24th-Feb-2010 12:28 am - Costume College LJ meetup
Hello LJ peeps who attend Costume College!

I'm going to be a little busy at Costume College this year, so I won't be able to host the LJ Meetup party.

Hope to see you all at College this year. Our new hotel is BIG!
3rd-Sep-2009 06:10 pm - Wow!
Shawna Trpcic, costume designer for Firefly, Dr. Horrible, and Dollhouse, will be Costuming Guest of Honor at SiliCon 2009!
13th-Aug-2009 12:25 pm - Attention Nova Scotian Costumers!
I don't know how many Canadian costumers are in this community, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

I am trying to organize an event at Randall House in Wolfville, Nova Scotia on Sept. 11, 2009. Randall House is a beautiful Regency manor, and every Friday during the summer they hold cream tea for only $5 per person! I am trying to see if there is enough interest to hold a regency tea there this fall.

If you are a costumer in Nova Scotia, please let me know if this interests you. I need to book the event, so I need to know if there is enough interest first.

Thank you!

31st-Jul-2009 09:56 pm - Potluck room 185
I'm in Room 185 at the Airtel Plaza Hotel.

While Room 186, the Costume Exhibit, has no meatballs, no sugar cookies, no zucchine chocolate chip muffins, no hibiscus-lemon tea, no peanut butter and jelly and honey and Nutella and cherry preserves, no bread, no crackers, no Trix, no Lucky Charms, no Moon Pies, no granola bars...

... the same can not be said for room 185.

We're open 11-5 tomorrow and Sunday. Stop on by.
I've been asked not to distribute flyers in convention space announcing the potluck party in my room at the Van Nuys Airtel Plaza during Costume College.

Therefore, I am not printing flyers letting everyone know that our room will be near the costume exhibit, and will be open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Word of mouth is okay, though, so tell your friends. And stop by for a quick bite.
28th-Jul-2009 10:34 pm - Pool Party at Costume College!
Pool Party at Costume College!
Anyone going to Costume College: Thursday night, July 30, 8-10 pm at the Airtel swimming pool, let's meet for an unofficial pool party! Bathing costumes of all periods (including the present) welcome, but no skinny-dipping. :)

Hope to see you there!
28th-Jul-2009 06:17 pm - Who's going to Costume College?
This question has been posted in lots of individual journals, but I thought it would be nice to post it here. Who's going to Costume College this year?
28th-Jul-2009 06:16 pm - LJ meetup at Costume College
The LJ/Facebook meetup is on for Costume College this year!

Please join colleency, obishawn, and amybee28 for tea, coffee and cookies on Thursday night from 10pm to midnight in their room on the 5th floor. Look for the sign on the door.

It's okay to repost this to LJ or Facebook.

This was posted in a friend's journal, and she reposted from two other people's LJs. I thought this is something appropriate to this community, since we attend cons and events, and for safety's sake, these are good ideas.

Suggestions for those attending meetings and conventions from fabricdragon and thorninthefoot

Write on the back of your badge
an emergency contact number
any serious allergies
any serious medical conditions
needed info (ex. "my epi pen is in my purse" or "my heart pills are in the skull charm on my wrist")

If you have serious health problems, the suggetion was to print up the information on a sheet of Avery Labels to take with you, so you can just slap it on the back of your badge. The suggestion was made that blank labels with headers (allergies, emergency contact) could be made available at conventions -- and that convention/meeting attendees should have this suggested to them on check in when they pick up their badges. And you could write down "my cell phone number" so you could get your lost badge back. I write my email address on/in my program so that if I loose it, it will come home. I tend to take copious notes in mine!
